Quality and innovation have always been the hallmarks of CPC services as demonstrated by a series of community site openings, expanded program offerings, early adoption of best practices treatment, a highly qualified staff, and CPC's recognition by mental health professionals and the greater Monmouth County community of providing excellent care. Below are a few of CPC's successes throughout its fifty years.

  • First child clinic opened in Monmouth County in 1960 known as the Children's Psychiatric Center.

  • Offices are opened in Eatontown and Freehold.First evaluation and treatment program for the Juvenile Justice System in Monmouth County opened in 1965.

  • First elementary school for children with emotional disabilities opened by CPC in 1965.

  • First high school for children and teenagers with emotional disabilities opened in 1970.

  • First Federal Community Mental Health Grant in the 1970s established the first community mental health center in Monmouth County.

  • First program for adults with serious and persistent mental illness in Monmouth County opened in mid 1970s.

  • First (and only) program to provide services to the Monmouth County Family Court established in 1985. Cited as an "Exemplary Program" it has been replicated in other New Jersey county Family Courts.

  • First Supported Employment Program for adults with serious and persistent mental illness in 1988.

  • First Intensive Outpatient Program for teens and adults with substance abuse problems started in 1991.

  • In 2001, CPC’s High Point School was the first NJ special education school to publish an evidence-based curriculum “In Control” to teach young adolescents anger management skills. This book is used across the United States and Europe.

  • First and only mobile response team for children in crisis in Monmouth County in 2002.
